The Tourism Group is currently contracted to operate three of Australia’s busiest Accredited Visitor Information Centres. They include:

Brisbane Airport – Domestic and International Terminals

The Tourism Group continues its award-winning operation of the Accredited Explore Centres at both the International and Domestic Terminals of Brisbane Airport. Brisbane Airport Corporation first appointed Southern Queensland Tourism a subsidiary of The Tourism Group in 2002, expanding from the International Terminal to also provide visitor services at the Domestic Terminal and establish Australia’s leading Airport Ambassadors program of volunteers.

The operation of the accredited visitor centre for Tourism Western Australia was awarded to The Tourism Group in mid-2018. Our Western Australia team operates the Western Australian Visitor Information Centre, located in the heart of Perth’s city centre.

Brisbane Airport Ambassador Program

Who are the Airport Ambassador?

Airport Ambassadors are members of the community who volunteer their time to assist travellers in the Brisbane Airport. They contribute to many areas of both the International and Domestic Terminals during peak travel times. All of our 165+ Ambassadors go through a 3-Month training program which gives them an all-encompassing knowledge of not only Airport procedures but tourism information throughout the Queensland region. From small enquiries about the Airport layout to advice on hotels, transfers, tours and much more, the Airport Ambassadors will have an answer. With such a large number of volunteers the Brisbane Airport Ambassador program is able to gather a vast and varied set of skills. Ambassadors have backgrounds in a range of varied industries and can speak over 20 different languages allowing them to assist a far greater number of travellers from all over the world.

Their desire and commitment to the program is especially notable through the Brisbane Airport Ambassadors receiving Gold in the 2015 Queensland Tourism Awards under the category of Outstanding Contribution by a Volunteer Group. The appreciation for these individuals is never ending and every day the Airport is reminded just how truly amazing they are.

Brisbane Airport Visitor Information Centres

Brisbane Airport’s two Accredited Visitor Information Centres are both operated by Southern Queensland Tourism, the parent company of The Tourism Group. Both centres have received official Visitor Information Centre accreditation from Tourism and Events Queensland and offer a great variety of tourism information, advice and services for travellers and terminal staff. 

The two Visitor Information Centres assist visitors transiting through Brisbane Airport to their destinations in Southern Queensland, Northern New South Wales or further afield in Australia with itinerary planning and bookings for products including accommodation, tours, transport and attractions. Our team also provides assistance on general airport enquiries, flight information, and lost property.

Complementing the advice and bookings services, is the team of over 165 enthusiastic volunteer Airport Ambassadors, drawn from the community to assist travellers arriving or departing through Brisbane Airport. The Airport Ambassadors program operates daily and offers encouragement, support and assistance to travellers.
