The Visitor Information Centre iCard program supports VIC staff and volunteers, recognising their vital role in delivering trusted local insight and advice. By strengthening visitor services, the program rewards their contribution to promoting tourism and supporting regional economies across Queensland.
Published by The Tourism Group and supported by Destination NSW, the Travellers Guide to New South Wales promotes the AVIC network and supports travellers with touring information, road trips, maps and a comprehensive directory highlighting top attractions and essential visitor services across NSW.
The Tourism Group provides AVICs across NSW with WiFi advice, hardware, installation and ongoing support. Free WiFi enhances visitor services, encourages centre engagement, and helps visitors discover more about destinations—supporting longer stays and greater connection with regional experiences.
The International Student Tourism Passport Competition encouraged foreign students to visit at least three Queensland regions and accredited VICs, meet locals, and discover regional highlights. Running in January 2019, it aimed to strengthen links between international education, tourism stakeholders, and their contribution to Queensland’s economy.
Despite digital maps, most visitors prefer printed versions for travel planning. With support from Destination NSW, TTG has produced large-scale maps showing all NSW Accredited Visitor Information Centres, providing AVICs with a useful tool for display and assisting visitors in navigating the state.
The yellow-and-blue AVIC symbol represents trusted information for travellers worldwide. To support correct usage and help visitors identify centres, The Tourism Group offers approved promotional materials, signage, feather banners, and flags, all available for purchase to ensure consistent and recognisable branding.
The Tourism Group’s Storytelling Workshops equip VIC staff and volunteers with communication skills to transform local knowledge into engaging visitor experiences. By highlighting regional attractions and tailoring information to visitor interests, the workshops help staff deliver accurate, compelling, and memorable insights that enhance the overall tourism experience.
